## Ecuador added: the list now has 51 countries

2026-09-01

Executive Decree 16 of August 31, 2026 rewrote the list of Friendly Nations and added Ecuador. It took effect the day after its promulgation. Ecuadorians follow the same procedure, costs, deposits and two-year provisional stage.

## Three economic routes and a two-year provisional stage

2021-08-07

Executive Decree 226 of July 20, 2021 set the three routes (employment, real estate of at least B/. 200,000, or a B/. 200,000 fixed-term deposit) and kept the two-year provisional residency created by Executive Decree 197 of 2021. It took effect on August 7, 2021.
